Intermediate 2 Course Entry Requirements

  • Standard Grade Physical Education General Level 3.

Course Outline

The course consists of two compulsory units which are not taught separately but with an integrated approach.

Physical Education: Performance

This unit builds on your previous performance to improve skills and techniques in a minimum of two activities. The choice of activities will be decided in consultation with the PE department.

Physical Education: Analysis and Development of Performance


In Gleniiffer High School, this unit is divided into three areas, which are:

Preparation of the Body
Skills and Technique
Structures, Strategies and Composition

The work of this unit requires you to:
  • Observe, record and analyse performance
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in all areas of analysis
  • Monitor a programme of work
  • Evaluate the analysis and development process.
  • Develop core Skills

The course is assessed by a combination of internal assessment and external assessment:
  1. Internal assessment
    • Practical Performance
    • National Assessment Bank (NAB) Question
  2. External assessment
    • SQA Exam
